“Mirror, mirror on your Facebook Wall”
We are all happy with the ability to look into the mirror, and see ourselves the way others see us, if that’s not the actual way people see us at least, it’s a relief we get to see ourselves in a similar way. Well on Facebook, you can and this is not partial view on your profile, it enables you to view your profile exactly the way others see it! In this article, we will show you how to check what your Facebook profile looks like when others view it. This is an easy way to make sure that your Facebook privacy settings are doing their job at least.
View your Timeline as someone else
1. Open your Facebook account, click on your name to get to your Timeline, otherwise known as your profile page.
2. Almost to the right of your profile cover photo, you’ll see a few button links – Update Info, View Activity Log, and three little dots. Click the dots and it will show you a new drop down option, from the options, choose “View As….”
Alternatively, you can use the Privacy Shortcut button near the top right, as shown below. Choose “Who can see my stuff?” And then “What do other people see on my timeline?”
3. You’ll now see your timeline as the “Public” sees it i.e. as someone who is a Facebook user but not on your Friends list.
The feature we mentioned the other time about using this medium to check out how your privacy settings function. You can try this out by viewing your profile as a specific person. To do this,
From the previous stage in three, now click “View as Specific Person”. Once you start typing a name, you can choose from the names that appear. Then you’ll scroll down to see what that user would see when viewing your timeline.
That’s it. I hope this feature is amazing and easy to try
out with this guide?
