Can i select the ad Facebook shows to me?

Facebook uses the following information to decide which ad to show to you.
  • Information you share on Facebook (ex: posts or comments you make) and your activity on Facebook (such as liking a Page or a post, clicking on ads you see).
  • Other information about you from your Facebook account (ex: your age, your gender, your location, the devices you use to access Facebook).
  • Information advertisers and our marketing partners share with us that they already have, like your email address.
  • Your activity on websites and apps off of Facebook.

Although you can't opt out of seeing ads entirely, you can influence the types of ads you see by giving us feedback or hiding ads and advertisers that you don't want to see.
To hide an ad:
  1. Click on the three dotted icon at the top right corner of the ad.
  2. Choose Hide ad.

To hide all ads from this advertiser:
  1. Click on the three dotted icon at the top right corner of the ad and choose Why am I seeing this?.
  2. From the Options dropdown menu, select Hide all ads from this advertiser.

Facebook ad preferences? 

Your ad preferences are a way to learn why you’re seeing a particular ad, and control how we use information about you on and off Facebook to decide which ads to show you.

How can i adjust my Facebook ad preferences
To view and adjust your ad preferences:
  1. Click the X or the downward pointing arrow near the top-right corner of any ad on Facebook.
  2. Select Why am I seeing this?.
You’ll see an explanation of why you’re seeing the ad, and you can add or remove yourself from audiences who are shown that ad. Click Manage your ad preferences to see more audiences you’re a part of that influence which ads you see on Facebook.

Changing your ad preferences influences which ads you see, but it won’t change the total number of ads you see. Keep in mind that advertisers sometimes ask Facebook to show similar ads to multiple audiences, or to wide audiences. For example, a company might want to reach people who like sports. If you remove yourself from the audience of people who like football, but not from the audience of people who like basketball, you could still see the company’s ad.

Note: Facebook always uses information about your age, gender, location and the devices you use to access Facebook when deciding which ads to show you.

There are a few ways to give us feedback about the ads you see on Facebook. Giving a feedback will impact which ads will be shown to you in future.

 

Follow the following steps in order to give a feedback on Facebook.
  • Tell Facebook more about what you like. Liking Pages and adding things you like to your profile (eg. movies, bands, sports teams) will help us show you more relevant ads.
  • Tell us when you see an ad you like. Click the X or the downward pointing arrow near the top-right corner of any ad on Facebook, and then select This ad is useful. We’ll do our best to show you more ads like that one in the future.
  • Hide ads you don’t like. Click the X or the downward pointing arrow at the top right corner of any ad, and then select Hide ad. We’ll do our best not to show you more ads like that one in the future.
  • Adjust your ad preferences. To learn about the information Facebook is using to show you ads and choose which preferences influence the ads you see, adjust your ad preferences. Ad preferences are only available in some areas right now.
  • Use interest-based advertising controls. If you don’t want Facebook to collect information based on your activity on websites or apps off Facebook for the purpose of showing you ads, you can opt out from your settings.

When you want to control the delivery of your campaigns, ad sets or ads, turn your ads on or off at any time.
Turn an ad on or off on Facebook
You can check the delivery of the campaign, ad set or ad by looking at the toggle next to it:
  •   If the switch shows blue color your campaign, ad set or ad is on.
  • If  the switch shows grey color your campaign, ad set or ad is off.
Note You can also check the current status of your campaign, ad set or ad by reviewing the Delivery column.
To turn your ad on or off:
  1. Go to Ads Manager.
  2. Click Campaigns, Ad Sets or Ads.
  3. Click the toggle next to each campaign, ad set or ad you want to turn on or off.

The Billing section of Ads Manager is where you can find the billing information for your ad account. There, you can view your payment history and learn more about specific charges, like when you made a payment, how much you paid, the reason you were charged and which ads you spent money on.

Steps to view your Facebook ad charges and payment history

You have to be an ad account admin to manage an ad account's billing information. Learn more about ad accounts and permissions.
  1. Go to the Billing section of your Ads Manager.
  2. In your list of transactions, click the date dropdown menu (located above your transactions) and choose the date range you want to view charges for.
    3. Note: If you'd like to see charges organized by the Pages you've advertised for, you can click the Transactions dropdown menu (located above your transactions to the left) and select Transactions By Page.
  3. If you want to learn more about a specific charge, click the Transaction ID of the charge you'd like more info about.

You'll be able to see more details for the charge you clicked on, like how much you paid, when you were charged, the specific reason you were billed and the ads you spent money on. You can also click the Ad Set Name to view your ad results (like how many impressions or clicks your ad received).
